The book Fahrenheit 451 (author: Ray Bradbury). There is also a movie adaptation that I have not seen.

Movie: Brazil (a lot like 1984; I did not enjoy this)

Movie: Dark City (Okay movie)

Silent film: Metropolis (I’ve never seen it)

On the Beach by Nevil Schute (I’ve never read it; been planning to)
