In terms of overall artistic quality what would you say the 3 greatest films ever made are?

I myself would say in order:

1. Citizen Kane
2. Raging Bull
3. The Godfather Part II
I think Godfather II is superior to 1 by just a little. Still 3 was the weakest.
This doesn’t necessarily mean how much you enjoy the film, but as a hopeful film critic in the making, what are the best from artistic POVs.

I haven’t seen the Godfather Part 2 (I hate when people don’t return movies to the video rental store!) So I would have to go with the first one.

Star Wars Episode V, because Luke meets Yoda and starts his Jedi training, finds out Vader is his father, loses his hand, and Han is frozen in carbonite! Bad endings are more entertaining!

Just a personal opinion because I wish I could live in their world, Clerks 2.

I would say "The Godfather Part II" doesn’t even belong in the top 100.

2. The Godfather
3. American Beauty
