Why is "The Godfather" one of the greatest films ever?

I’m fcuking sick of people disrespecting him, he has achieved so much and for people to just fcuking insult him pisses me off, i’d love to see someone say those things to my face. CRACKING UP? FAT CHANCE YOU FCUKERS. BRING ON THE NEXT TROPHY.

    Because on this months red all over the land liverpool fanzine there is a funny picture from a scene in the godfather with ferguson on his knees looking up to benitez. its a funny picture and so true.

  7. The Godfather is a true gangster classic. It’s more violent and definitely more cursing, and the godfather takes you deeper into the lives of the mobsters.
    Also, it received numerous academy awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor, and The American Film Institute named it the 2nd greatest movie in the "AFI’s 100 Years… 100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition)".
    The book is supposed to be good also, but I haven’t read it.

  8. Because it portrays, with an overlay of sanctimonious respectability and ‘glamour’, naked evil based on iron-fisted control, fear, hypocrisy, exploitation and vengeance.
    I leave others to draw comparisons with ‘Godfather Ferguson’ – I see him only as a drunken lout who disgraces the investiture of ‘Knight’.

    Another wonderful misconception.

    The film ‘The Godfather’ is a true masterpiece. The article you provided has the Telegraph referring to Fergie AS a Godfather, who in the book is a vile, disgusting individual with murderous intent.

    Mario Puzo doesn’t portray him as a great man at all, he even admits that people missed the point he was making about the character.
    He wants you to hate the man. Comparing Fergie to the Godfather is actually an insult.
