“Might be able’?? …
“Might be able’?? “Can’t field or cover ground….)?? You make it sound as though he is alive and playing today. You’re just another idiot that doesn’t know what he’s talking about…
Incredible player …
Incredible player very fun to watch, notice the haedfirst slide into home and Lou there to greet him…he’s lucky he didn’t play now or he would have gotten that same lame boring intentional walk treatment that Barry did. Well maybe not seeing as he was protected By Lou Gehrig and Bonds was protected By Benito Santiago and J.T. Snow
Valuable beyond …
Valuable beyond words to watch the Babe in action.
Was he better or worse than whomever? Who the knows or cares. He was 100 per cent human, which is why the people loved him.
Does his swing remind anyone else of Stan Musial’s??
I love how he just …
I love how he just smashed a ball from Walter Johnson like it was nothin! That’s amazing!!
gorgeous swing…. …
gorgeous swing….raw power.
the no integration …
the no integration argument goes two ways. would Babe be as good if he had to bat against Paige? i don’t know but would Satchel Paige be as good a pitcher if he had to face Babe?
2:08 (we’re still …
2:08 (we’re still waiting for that ball to land) What a beautiful swing. Rest in peace Bambino!
Babe led his team …
Babe led his team in steals 5 times and was a very smart baserunner. But most impressive was how easily he converted from pitcher to everyday ballplayer. He won 20 games TWICE before he stopped pitching at the age of 24 with a 94-46 lifetime record. Had he been a solely a hitter from the beginning of his career, he would have easily topped 800 home runs. And with modern sports medicine in his final years may have reached 900. Add in a .342 lifetime average and he IS the GREATEST EVER
Yea Babe is Good …
Yea Babe is Good but to say he was the best I don’t know…Baseball was not integrated back then. Great footage I love just to see a complete game.
hey stupid …
hey stupid tatomuck18, it so happens that babe was very quick indeed, not the asinine portrayals of fat pigs in movies hollywood makes of him, in fact very few ballplayers have stolen home ten or more times in history and mr. jerk, BABE RUTH IS ONE OF THEM, HOW DOES THAT GRAB YOU, AND AS YOU KNOW WITH YOUR OBVIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF BASEBALL HISTORY THE BABE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST PITCHERS EVER SO YOU CAN REST ASSURED THAT NO ONE EVER HAD AS FINE AN ARM AT THROWING OUT RUNNERS AS THE BABE,
That was great… …
That was great…absolutely great! Thank you for posting.
Ruth might be able …
Ruth might be able to hit and pitch but he cant even run. He cant field or cover ground or have any range.
0:53 This is the …
0:53 This is the first time I have seen his swing! It reminds me of Happy Gilmore!!
wow unbelievable …
wow unbelievable footage, what a ball player. Head first into home! “i would have hit 600 if i only tried to hit singles.”
Truely the greatest …
Truely the greatest player of all time.
Can you imagine what he could have accomplished if he played with todays trainers and a proper diet?
Best Ruth short …
Best Ruth short video I’ve seen. Music selection is perfect.
Thanks.
@MrTimJr Hahaha, …
@MrTimJr Hahaha, awesome!
Greatest Player of …
Greatest Player of All Time!!! 8,399 At Bats2,174 Runs, 2,873 Hits, 2,213 RBI, 714 Home Runs, Lifetime Slugging Average
.690 , Lifetime Batting Average .342 & that is just His Batting Record. He Was Also a Great Pitcher!! By The Way Hank Arron Had 12,364 At bats. Forget Barry (Cheater) Bonds (Steroids))
I agree. No other …
I agree. No other great player has pitched AND hit like Ruth had, so he’s the best.
And I say that as a great fan of (among others) Aaron, Mays, Ted Williams, Mantle, Clemente, Frank Robinson, Pujols, Mauer, Piazza, Gwynn — and I’m not even including great pitchers who could hit, like Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson, Spahn, Wes Farrell, Newcombe, Ruffing, Drysdale, Lemon, and I’m probably forgetting a few:) –
Clearly he was on …
Clearly he was on steroids. Look how fast he ran the bases!!
Kidding of course. The babe was the man.
A good shot of the …
A good shot of the fence at 1:29, reminding all that Ruth had a distance to hit his shots – 714 of ‘em, all with only beer to help ‘em along.
ought a babe!
ought a babe!
Think The Babe …
Think The Babe would have worn batting gloves?
NOT!
What makes it even …
What makes it even greater and gives me goose bumps is that particular hit at 2:08 was his famous record setting 60th home run of that season which set the record that he held for 34 years before Roger Maris hit 61 in 1961.
Yes, Babe was left …
Yes, Babe was left handed. He pitched and batted lefty
