Vivah is the story of Poonam & Prem. Poonam (Amrita Rao) an orphaned middle-class girl who lives with her uncle (Alok Nath) and aunt (Seema Biswas). Poonam’s chachi (aunt) has been unable to accept Poonam as her own child as she is more beautiful than chachis daughter, Rajni (Amrita Prakash). Poonam’s simple and affectionate demeanor touches the heart of Bhagatji (Manoj Joshi) who takes her marriage proposal for Prem (Shahid Kapoor), son of renowned businessman Mr. Harishchandra (Anupam Kher). In spite of being brought up in the fast city life of New Delhi, Prem is rooted to the ground and has retained his familys traditional values and upbringing.
Respecting his fathers wishes, Prem agrees to meet Poonam to get to know her better. What follows is a ‘meeting’ arranged by the two families. Prem and Poonam are suddenly in the midst of a situation they have never been in before. They discover their soul mates in each other and are engaged – to be married in six months. Prem and Poonam go through the most magical and romantic period of their lives. Six months fly by and just when everything is set for Prem and Poonam to get married… a crisis puts the love of Prem and Poonam through a trial by fire. ‘Vivah’ is a heart-warming tale of their unconditional love…

Amar Akbar Antony starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Praveen Babi, Nitu Singh, Shabana Azmi is a blockbuster entertainer about the union of three brothers separated from each other and their parents, avenging the man who separated them. This film set the trend of films based on the lost & found theme. A dozen odd films were made on this theme but no film succeeded the way Amar Akbar Anthony did. Pran and Nirupa Roy get separated accidentally with their three kids. The kids are adopted by persons of three different religions. One is a Hindu, the second a Muslim and the third a Christian. One boy grows up as Amar, the other as Akbar and the third as Anthony. Amar is a police officer, Akbar a tailor and Anthony, a good-for-nothing. After a series of trials and tribulations, the lost and disintegrated family re-unites. The film ends with their three sons getting married to their respective lovers.
