I’m starting an art project that i want to base around war, i got some ideas for a painting from the opening in ‘Saving Private Ryan’. I was wondering what your top ten best war films are, or if you can find a clip on youtube or something of the best part in the movie you liked. It would be really helpful. Thanks (:

We were Soldiers
Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
The Patriot
Apocalypse Now
The Thin Red Line
Pearl Harbor
Black Hawk Down
Jarhead
Dead President(there are war scenes in the Beginning)
Red Dawn

I would recommend ‘the grave of the fireflies’, it is animated but definitely a different take on war. You can see the english dubbed version on the link below.

    1 Band of Brothers
I like this 10 part mini series best because you can see the changes of war on the solders.
    2 We Were Solders
Finally a Vietnam war movie that shows the solders as solders not baby killers.
    3 Black Hawk Down
How can forget the two snipers in the helicopter asking to guard the second crash site.

My top three were all based on true stories. All three show the horror of war, And the friendship between the solders.
